International Off-Page SEO for a Leading Online Auto Parts Retailer Over 7 Years
Project Goal
The collaboration with an international online retailer of car parts had one clear goal: to significantly increase the website’s organic visibility. In a fiercely competitive market, the brand needed to become more visible while also reaching more potential customers.
Challenge
The auto parts industry is one of the most competitive niches in e-commerce. A data-driven SEO strategy was therefore essential — one focused not on quick wins, but on sustainable results and long-term growth.
Project Details
From 2013 to 2020, my focus was consistently on off-page SEO, specifically the targeted expansion of the link profile: partnerships with thematically relevant websites through guest posts, banner placements, and editorial links.
It was never about volume at any cost, but about quality and relevance: no link farms, only genuine, thematically relevant websites related to automotive and car-parts topics. This website evaluation — assessing whether a placement is truly worth it — has become one of my core skills over the years.
A white-hat-adjacent, topically relevant approach was always important to me, over riskier black-hat tactics — even though this form of link building isn’t pure content marketing.
The project was internationally structured from the start. Markets covered included Sweden, Norway, and Finland in the north, as well as France, Portugal, Italy, Spain, and Poland — plus additional EU markets and Eastern Europe. Over the entire period, this resulted in several thousand links, built through guest posts, banners, and editorial placements on relevant partner sites.
Results
As part of the project, I worked on dozens of country-specific domains across the markets mentioned above in Northern, Western, and Eastern Europe. As an example, here’s the trajectory of the .de domain: its Sistrix visibility index rose from 0 to over 20 points within 3.5 years — clear evidence of continuous organic visibility growth over the entire engagement.
- Continuous growth: Using the .de domain as an example, visibility didn’t spike suddenly but grew steadily over several years — the result of consistent, long-term off-page work.
- Top positions: Top search rankings were achieved for key industry search terms.
- Lasting results: The visibility built up remained stable even after individual project phases ended — across all country domains worked on.
